This post is a little late. Circumstances well beyond my control have kept me from posting.
The museum itself is part natural history museum and part learning center for children. Of the many exhibits at the museum, one of the most fascinating is a recreation of the Waco Mammoth Site, “the largest known concentration of prehistoric mammoth elephants dying from the same event,” according to the mammoth Web site. The mammoths were discovered in 1978 along an eroding creek bank.
The exhibit is a cast of one of the original finds and set under plexiglas so visitors can walk over it as if they were walking throught the site itself.
